National Hot Chocolate Day and Snowmageddon 2019

Did you survive Snowmageddon 2019?

WE enjoyed the unexpected day off work! I hope you got a chance to put your feet up and spend some time with family and friends.

Today is National Hot Chocolate Day!  I thought I’d share a quick and easy recipe with you to share with your family/friends. For some reason, I always associate Hot Chocolate with the Super Bowl, but that is another story for another day.

Super Bowl Hot Chocolate

The Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half cream

The directions:

Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while stirring. Simmer while gently whisking for 2 minutes. Don’t scorch it! Gently stir in the milk and heat it until very hot but not boiling. Remove from the stove, stir in the vanilla. Serves 4. Add the half & half to cool. Garnish as you choose with powdered pecans, bourbon, marshmallows, whipped cream or cinnamon sticks.

Thanks and Take Care,

Your Friends at Southern Assurance
